As the current pandemic has meant that Year 6’s last year at The Meadows was cut short, we were not able to give them the usual Year 6 end of year treats and traditions such as a trip, a disco or a Leavers’ production.
We think that it’s important to give Year 6 the chance to see their friends before they go on to secondary school – but we have to be mindful that it has to be safe for them as well as the Key Worker and Reception children that we already have in school. Therefore, we will be having a barbecue for each of the Year 6 classes. The children will need to arrive at the front vehicle gate for 1.30 on their designated day (please don’t arrive early as there will be other children on site still having their lunch break). To keep everyone safe, we will need you to observe the usual social distancing rules.
After the children have eaten, if the weather is good, we will be walking them to Hill Top Park to pay some socially distanced games. If it’s raining, we will be having a socially distanced cinema experience with popcorn in the hall.
The children will need to be collected at 4.00pm from the park, or from school using the Mini Meadows entrance (depending on the weather).
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to allow the children to sign each others’ shirts or autograph books to avoid cross infection – so please don’t send shirts or pens. We also ask that the children do not carry their phones with them as posing closely together for photographs might present an additional risk. As commemorative gift, we will be providing all the children with a mug with the children’s names on. We have also asked the photographer to use the childrens’ photographs to put together a collage for each class. If anyone wants to order one of these photographs, then there will be link to view and make orders. Only children that had their photographs taken individually will be on the collage.
We will be sending out a link with the foods that we will be serving so that you can pre-order. It will also be an opportunity to mention any allergies that your child has and whether or not they are allowed to walk home on their own. If they require any medication such as an epi-pen or inhaler, please make sure that you send them with your child.
Children are not expected to attend in school uniform, but could you please send them dressed in appropriate clothing for the park, a filled water bottle and a hat (with sun lotion applied) if it’s going to be sunny.
The days for each class are as follows:
- Wednesday 15th July 2020: 6K
- Thursday 16th July 2020: 6C
- Friday 17th July 2020: 6S
Please complete the form below which allows you to tell us if your child will be attending and select the food that you want your child to eat at the BBQ.
