At The Meadows we recognise that many of our children have a love of PE and sport and we promote a healthy engagement in a wide variety of physical activities.
All pupils receive a minimum of two hours each week of high quality Physical Education (P.E) and Physical Activity (P.A) through a broad and balanced curriculum.
P.E and P.A develops the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding, so that they can perform with increasing competence and confidence in a range of activities. These include dance, games, gymnastics, swimming, athletics and outdoor adventure activities.
We strive to promote high quality physical education and activity and encourage all pupils within the school to enjoy participating and being active and thus develop a positive attitude towards P.E and P.A. This will also enable them to make informed choices about healthy living throughout their lives.
Pupils will be consulted, listened to and fully engaged in the work of the school to promote more physical activity. Every effort is made to maintain and stimulate the pupil interest and the enjoyment in P.E and P.A to promote and health and fitness for current and future lifestyles.
At The Meadows we extend the experiences of our pupils by providing a variety of extra curricular opportunities. We run before school, lunchtime and after school sports clubs for children in both Key Stages.
Some examples of these opportunities include: football, cricket, multi-skills, tri-golf, tag rugby, athletics, dance and netball.
We compete regularly in sports fixtures with other schools. This introduces a competitive element to team games and allows our children to put into practice the skills that they have developed in their lessons and extra curricular clubs. These opportunities foster a sense of team spirit and co-operation amongst our children.
