Tag Rugby

With the rugby World Cup getting extremely exciting and England doing amazingly well, our tag rugby teams have been busy too! On the 1st October, we took two Y6 teams to the Kings Norton rugby club to take part in the season’s opening festival. It gave children who haven’t played rugby yet, a chance to experience the game. There were no results kept on the night as the focus was solely on enjoyment. We played some brilliant rugby though and can’t wait to play more competitive rugby soon.

On Tuesday 15th October, we went back to Kings Norton rugby club with two Y5 teams to compete in a ‘World Cup’ inspired competition. There were 10 schools from the local area taking part and we were assigned Argentina and France as our ‘teams’. As well as gaining points for winning matches, bonus points were also given out for demonstrating the rugby values such as respect, sportsmanship and teamwork. Both of our teams were a credit to the school and although we weren’t the overall winners, we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

Football

On Thursday 17th October, the girls’ football team went to St.Edwards School to compete in the Kings Norton 7aside Finals. With 4 girls who were playing competitive football for the first time, we performed brilliantly. We drew in our first game with the eventual winners Kings Norton. A hatrick from Persia in our second game gave us a 3-1 win. Tiverton were next up and we earned a point with a 1-1 draw, Persia scoring again. The fourth game was a defeat to a strong Northfield Manor team and in the final match we played out a goal-less draw with Raddlebarn.

The girls did our school proud and we hope the new girls will want to play more football in the future. Well done to Lily A, Angel, Jahmirah, Isabella, Persia, Lilian, Trinity and Ellie.

Hockey

On Tuesday 22nd October, we took a Y6 hockey team to West Heath School to compete in a 4aside mixed competition. With four teams in total, we played 3 games, winning one and narrowly losing two. We finished third overall, playing some brilliant hockey on the evening.

Well done to Persia, Lilian, Dylan S, Christopher and James D.
