On Wednesday 27th November, our school basketball team went to Colmers Secondary School to take part in the Kings Norton Schools’ qualifying heat. There were five schools present, which meant we had 4 matches. We managed to secure great victories against West Heath, Ark Kings and Bournville and only lost narrowly to Kings Norton. We finished 2nd in the group and therefore have qualified for the ‘Finals Night’ on Wednesday 4th December. Well done to Miguel, Christopher, Dylan S, George, Matthew, Brandon, Lily, Persia and Lauren.
On Tuesday 26th November, it was the turn of our girls’ table tennis team to go to West Heath School to take part in a competition. Considering that all of the girls hadn’t really played table tennis before, they did fantastically. There was a massive improvement in their skills as the competition went on. We just missed out on the silver medals but a great night was had by all involved. Well done to Lauren, Eva, Madison and Lilian.
On Tuesday 19th November, we went to West Heath School to compete in a boys’ table tennis competition. Our team was made up of George, Louie, Chris, Muffadal, Dylan and Brandon and for some of them it was their first competitive experience of table tennis. The boys did brilliantly on the night and scored a total of 12 points with some great individual wins. We finished 3rd overall behind St.Laurence and West Heath, who both had very strong squads. Hopefully the girls’ team will perform just as well next week.
On Tuesday 12th November, we took our girls tag rugby team to a tournament at Kings Norton Rugby Club. It was a very cold night and the pitches were extremely muddy yet we played some fantastic rugby on the night. Our results were as follows:
4 – 2 Meadows Primary v Hollywood – Win
4 – 4 Meadows Primary v St.John Boscoe – Draw
5 – 2 Meadows Primary v Bournville – Win
4 – 4 Meadows Primary v Tiverton – Draw
5-4 Meadows Primary v St.Marys – Win
5 – 3 Meadows Primary v West Heath – Win
With 4 wins and 2 draws, we were crowned Champions of the competition, successfully defending the title that we won last year too.Congratulations to Persia, Lilian, Daisy, Jahmirah, Jaimee-Leigh, Ruby and Charley.
On Thursday 7th November, the boys’ football team travelled to the Futsal Arena in Birmingham to compete in the Kings Norton Schools’ annual Futsal competition. Futsal is like football but played indoors with a heavier ball.
We were drawn in a group of five schools, meaning we had four league games to play. We had a perfect record of four wins, scoring 7 goals in the process. In the semi-final we beat St.John Boscoe school 3-1 with a brilliant team performance. This meant we played West Heath Primary in the Final. It was a very tight game and could have gone either way. Unfortunately, we suffered our first defeat of the night to finish runners-up. We were extremely proud of this achievement and received a shield and silver medals. Well done to Louie, George, Christopher, Dylan D, Lewis and Alfie.
