Brought into force in 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been set out to give individuals greater control of their personal data that’s held by third-parties, such as retailers or social networks.

The regulation aims to harmonise data flows between all member states, and bolster the rights that EU citizens have over their data held and processed by organisations.
