On Wednesday 12th February, we took two basketball teams to Colmers Secondary to compete in the School Games qualifying event. We have played more basketball than ever before this year and this has really helped us to develop our skills. Our two teams names on the night were ‘Meadows Magic’ and ‘Meadows Marvels’Both teams were brilliant in the group stages and between them earned 5 wins and only 1 defeat. This meant that both our teams went through to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, both teams lost narrowly in the semi-finals to strong teams from West Heath and Turves Green. The good news was that we played each other in the 3rd v 4th place play-off match. The Marvels were victorious 4-2 to earn the bragging rights. A big well done to Chris, Dylan S, Brandon, Lilian and Lily (Meadows Marvels) and George, Dylan D, Matthew, Persia and Lauren (Meadows Magic).
On Saturday 1st February, the school football team went to Castle Vale to complete in the West Midlands 7aside Finals. We qualified for this by winning the Kings Norton Finals back in September. The standard of football was extremely high and a 3-0 win in the first game was an amazing result. A narrow defeat in the second game meant we needed to win our final group game to qualify for the semi-finals. Unfortunately, we could only manage a draw so we missed out by a point.Well done to all the boys involved and thanks to the parents for taking the boys on a cold, Saturday morning.Check out the photo in the gallery in our new school strip.
