Year 3’s Autumn Term 1 topic was Scrumdiddlyumptious.

In English, we learnt how to use direct speech and expanded noun phrases in our writing. Here is an example of these being used in a story:

In Maths, we extended our knowledge of place value and learnt different methods of addition and subtraction (including exchange).

During our Topic lessons, we learnt all about Fairtrade products and their journeys from faraway lands.

In October, we visited Cadbury World to discover how chocolate is produced, as well as learning about the history of chocolate over the past 100 years in Birmingham.

We also had a fruit tasting afternoon where the children had the opportunity to taste delicious fruit from all corners of the world. We then made lemonade and fruit salads.

In PE, we practised different ways of travelling, how to balance and how to use apparatus safely as part of our gymnastics unit.
