We managed to raise a whopping £353.35 for Children in Need this year. Well done to all the children and parents who supported this cause.
Aldi Team GB Stickers
A huge thank you to all of The Meadows community for collecting the Aldi Team GB stickers in order for us to enter the exciting Kit for Schools competition. We’ve enjoyed every minute. We have almost completed our second poster and are now in with a chance to win £20,000 for our school and some Aldi sports kits too.
Healthy Eating – November 2019
Children from across the school visited the City Serve office (our lunch time dinner suppliers) last week. They learnt all about the importance of healthy eating and found of the shocking truth about how much sugar there is in different cereals and drinks.
Poppy Day Wreath – November 2019
Last week, the children in lunchtime nurture made a poppy each. We then stuck them all to a wreath to make a Remembrance Day display.
As you may have seen on the news, there is a new trend named the ‘Momo Challenge’ spreading across the internet and social media. It consists of a horrifying character which appears on YouTube, Fortnite, and many other platforms your children may be using to play games or watch videos.
The doll haunts children to add a contact on messaging service WhatsApp, then hounds them with violent images and dares. We are aware that MOMO requesting children to add a number into their phones is also used as a hacking technique, used to steal personal information.
Parents/Carers are encouraged to talk to their children about internet safety and monitor what content your children are accessing. It has been reported that Momo will appear midway through a streamed episode of Peppa Pig and other child friendly shows, games or videos. We advise you all to be vigilant.
A downloadable guide offering further guidance and advice on dealing with this matter, can be found on the ‘National Online Safety’ website:
It is extremely important that you are all made aware of these online challenges, to help limit the chance of your children being targeted.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Congratulations to Mrs Katherine Watkins who was elected as our new parent governor in the recent ballot. The official ballot result can be found by clicking here.
Thank you to all of our candidates for putting themselves forward for this very important role and all parents who voted.
Over the summer break, we have had some work carried out in the playground. This has been to install some exercise equipment that the children can use to help keep themselves fit. We have also had artificial grass installed to ensure that the equipment can be used all year round. Have a look at the photographs below.
Due to the low temperatures forecast for tomorrow, we are asking that children in Year 5 and 6 come to school with a warm jumper or fleece/hoodie to wear in the classroom.
Due to issues with heating, The Meadows Resource Base will be closed to pupils tomorrow (19/03/18). We apologise for any inconvenience.
The building work is gathering pace now, with the steel framework being erected as you can see from the Photographs below.
