The Meadows hockey team have had a very successful few weeks. In January we won the Kings Norton sports association schools hockey tournament held at Colmers Leisure Centre.
West Heath, St.Laurence and Kings Norton were the other schools competing and we managed to defeat them all on the way to being crowned Champions!
Then on Tuesday 9th February, we went to the Futsal Arena to compete in the Birmingham Winter Games. We were against 10 other schools from across the city. We secured 3 wins and 2 draws in the group stages, ensuring we topped the group. In a close semi-final, we beat Tiverton 1-0 meaning we would face Whitehouse Common from Sutton Coldfield in the Grand Final. They were a very strong school and unfortunately we lost the game 0-3.
It was an amazing achievement to make the final however, and be crowned the 2nd best hockey team in Birmingham! Congratulations to Hannah, Isobel, Lewis, Jack, Archie and Seth who did themselves and the school proud.
‘Drop off’ and ‘Pick up’ parking available at The King Khan carpark, corner of Bristol Road and Tessall Lane
From Monday 8th January onwards
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very pleased to announce that Mr Khan of the King Khan restaurant has very kindly offered the use of the restaurant car park at the start of the morning and at the end of the school afternoon. This will support our local community to reduce the congestion on School Close and Bodenham Road at key periods of the day during term time.
The car park will be available for parents and carers to park their cars and walk with their children the short distance into school. This offers parking spaces within a very short walk to school. It also increases the opportunity for all our children and families to walk, as part of our KS2 School Council’s ongoing support for the ‘Living Streets’ campaign to improve pedestrian and cycle routes for all.
The restaurant car park will be open each morning from 8:30am to 9:10am and again in the afternoon from 2:50pm to 3:40pm from Monday 8th February. However, The King Khan restaurant will not be able to accept any liability for loss or damage to vehicles while parked on their site.
The entrance on Tessall Lane (pictured below) will be left unlocked for parents to access the carpark. At the moment, if you are the first person accessing the car park you may need to reach through and slide the bolt open.
Many thanks to Mr Khan for supporting the safety and well being of pupils, families and residents of our local community. Please take up this opportunity to park conveniently and safely within easy walking distance of The Meadows. This will be very much appreciated by us all.
