MP visit

On Friday 30th January we received a visit from the Minister for Sport and Tourism, Helen Grant MP.

The purpose of the visit was to see and talk about the ‘sports cage’ which was built through funding from Sports England. Some Year 6 pupils explained how we use the cage at break and lunch times for football and other sports games, as well as for extra curricular activities.

As well as discussing the sports cage, Mr Ottley, our PE co-ordinator, also spoke to Helen about the wide range of sporting opportunities that children at The Meadows receive. Our visitors were very impressed when they found out about some of the before and after school sports clubs that we offer; including football, netball, cricket, tag-rugby, basketball, multi-skills, zumba, boxercise, fencing and fishing!
The Sport and Tourism Minister thanked ‘The Meadows’ pupils and staff for letting her visit and encouraged us all to keep up the good work regarding PE and school sport, which we certainly will do!
